Model School is a premier educational institute situated in Rohtak, Haryana (India). The school is co-educational, affiliated to CBSE and imparts education upto Senior Secondary Certificate level in English Medium. Deputy Commissioner, Rohtak is the ex-officio Chairman of the school. To focus on quality education and the need of the time, the school runs Science , Commerce and humanities Streams. Established in 1952 with three students, one teacher and one room the school has steadily progressed and now hosts more than 2500 students and 200 strong faculty members. The school is equipped with full fledged Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Maths and Computer labs, a library with more than 6000 books and 82 class rooms.It has facilities for indoor games like Chess and carrom board and outdoor games like TT, Basket ball. The school has grown so much so that it has four more Branches at Rohtak, Sampla, Kalanaur & Meham. It is the first school in the district to have introduced smart class (Digi class) teaching technique in all the 82 class rooms.Ever since its inception, Model School, Rohtak has been a fore-runner as an institute that offers a strong academic base combined with opportunities for all round development of the personality of the students.

Through various co-curricular activities, games and sports, the competitive networking and team work skills of students are honed which further enhance their abilities to anticipate and adapt to the fast changing world scenario and the paradigm shift in the field of education. This all has been incorporated successfully with the balanced blend of commitment, diligence and sincerity of the staff and management. We have very smoothly introduced the latest policies of CBSE as per latest remodeled examination structure w.e.f fom session 2017-18 . We aspire to produce good human beings with qualities of respect for elders and under privileged. We were established in the year 1952 by none other than Late Sh. H.D. Shourie, IAS, the then Deputy Commissioner of Rohtak. The school was named as Junior Model School and the first crop of pupils consisted of ten and included, amongst others, Sh. Arun Shourie, who later rose to the level of the Telecommunication Minister of India.

The word Junior was dropped from its name when it was upgraded to middle standard and subsequently the school got affiliated to CBSE New Delhi in 1971. In the year 1975 we switched over to the new scheme of education under the 10+2 pattern. Since then we haven’t looked back. The school is making progress by leaps and bounds in all fields be it Academics, CCAs, entry to prestigious professional institutions etc. The school has professional moorings entwined in its heritage and tradition being true to its credo ‘Knowledge is Power’. The Modelites embodied the motto in letter and spirit. In the year 2009 we registered our name, not only at the State level, but at the National level by sending 29 students to IITs from one batch and putting one of the two students of Haryana to AIIMS, New Delhi. Entry to NTSE from the Rohtak District continues to be dominated by us. In the arena of sports and co-curricular activities, it’s a treat to see our students bagging positions at the State and National levels. Stress these days is on moral education and character building of our students. A prominently displayed message from our Principal states every thing, “Dear students, don’t indulge yourself in anything that you need to hide from your parents, you will seldom go wrong”.

The school has over a period of time spawned a host of motivated alumni who have in their varied spheres reached the heights of excellence both in India & abroad. The school can boast of its rich lineage of distinguished alumni like Late Dr. Daljit Singh who had been a leading scientist at NASA, USA, Sh. Arun Shourie, Sh. Bhupinder Singh Hooda, the former Chief Minister of Haryana, Sh. Deepender Singh Hooda, the sitting Member of Parliament from Rohtak, Mrs. Nalini Shourie, Mrs. Neelam Nanda and the like. In fact, the elites of Rohtak are none other than the Modelites, that we all know.
